Internet Shopping
Update: Check out this post for updated info after the December 1, 2019 changes.
I am having a hard time figuring out fall and winter clothing options. I’m limited in what I like in the stores, and I’m so used to ordering online and trying on items at home. The struggle is real when you’re used to Amazon Prime, free shipping, and free returns. I’m imparting some of my favorite online shops for clothing and goods that offer free shipping to New Zealand. What items are you having a hard time finding?
The Iconic - I like this company because they have a New Zealand presence, which means clothing can be delivered the next day. Plus, they have brands I’ve heard of, though not necessarily the full line of goods that I’m used to. They have free 30 day returns, too, so I’m more comfortable ordering. The downside is that the prices seem slightly elevated, though they often have 20% off sales.
Brooklinen - Did you know that bed size is not uniform? The dimensions for beds are slightly different between the US and NZ, so finding sheets that fit is next to impossible if you’re bringing over a US mattress. Enter Brooklinen. I ordered new California King sheets and extra pillow cases on a Thursday, and they arrived from New York WITH FREE SHIPPING on Monday. I kid you not. Fastest shipping ever! The other plus is that they label the sides of the fitted sheets, so you know which side is the short side. The downside is that the sheets aren’t the softest, despite their “sateen” claim. They feel like a regular cotton sheet.
Book Depository - It’s not quite Amazon, but for books, Book Depository is a great option. Free international shipping is included with the cost of your purchase, but it is definitely slow boat shipping that will take a coule of weeks. Ironically, I’ll read reviews on Amazon, and then purchase on Book Depository, but it definitely works and the selection is HUGE!
ShopBop - ShopBop offers free express international shipping, though no free postage for returns. However, the large selection of US products means it is hard to pass up purchases from brands that I know and love. The hardest part is staying under the NZ$400 limit so I don’t get smacked with extra duties and customs. (Read about my one time mistake here.)
Have you found any online retailers that are top notch? Who else should I try?
