Lockdown 2.0
Auckland is currently at a Level 3 lockdown, meaning kids stay home from school, people should work from home if they can, and places like hairdressers, gyms, movie theaters, etc. are closed. However, there’s take out food available, click and collect shopping, and a fair amount of freedom when it comes to being outdoors. In other words, it is a very American-style lockdown and its positively footloose and fancy free compared to the time we spent at Level 4 during the first lockdown.
Have I ordered an insane amount of takeout lately? Yes. I don’t know how much longer it is going to be an option, especially after seeing how unconcerned Aucklanders were this weekend with social distancing or masks. I’m pessimistic that Level 3 is going to do the job we want it to do, especially as more and more information comes out on the number of people and places positive people have visited. I hate to admit it, but I wish the government would just move us to Level 4 so we could get this over with faster. I don’t want to be stuck in the purgatory that much of the world is stuck in.
But is it so bad? Have a look for yourself! I’ve created a little vlog of our first two days in lockdown:
The kiddos may not learn much from homeschooling, but maybe they’ll pick up a few life lessons around the dinner table.
