Not the Post I Thought I Would Post

I had a great plan for this week’s blog post: a Q&A with my husband about the ins and outs of travelling back to the US and returning to New Zealand. Alas that post isn’t going to happen this week because someone came back with the most unwelcome of souvenirs: a hefty case of covid.

He took three tests prior to boarding his flight back to Auckland and all were negative, yet the morning after his arrival, the test took about a nanosecond to be positive. Now we’re all isolating at home for seven days with all of our fingers and toes crossed hoping that no one else gets it.

I was all excited about having a nice little respite from being a solo parent after the past few weeks only to find the jokes on me. Now the kids and I can’t leave the house for a week, I’m homeschooling, and I’m taking care of a covid patient. I’ve removed the Netflix time limits to keep everyone sane.

So pardon the super short blog post. Things are crazy (but ok) here. Hopefully next week I’ll be able to give all the details on the paperwork, process, and surprises about travelling in and out of New Zealand.
