Grocery Haul #7
Summer is good and truly here, and with it, all of the yummy warm weather food we love. This is a mid-summer shopping trip from our local New World that I’ve been sitting on since mid- December. There are some things on this list that I know I can get much cheaper elsewhere, but I’ve got two kids and limited time, so I’m willing to pay the premium for one stop shopping.
Tortillas - 10 count - $4.49
Organic Black Beans - $1.99
Lewis Road Creamery Single Cream - 300ml - $4.15 (This is a very expensive type of cream, but I absolutely love Lewis Road Creamery. All of their dairy products are delicious, though they are much more expensive than other brands.)
Basil Plant - $3.99
Chicken Tenderloins - .665kg @ $19.99/kg - $13.31
Carrots - .416kg @ $1.79/kg - 74¢
Crumpets - 6 pack - $2.79
Lewis Road Creamery Sour Cream - 200g - $4.59
Buffalo Mozzarella - 125g - $8.99
Corn - $1.79 per ear - $7.16 (Side note - I wonder how much US corn would be without the billions of dollars of federal subsidies each year…)
Oreo Ice Cream Cone - 4 pack - $6.99 (Clearly my six year old was shopping with me and this was his bribe to behave.)
Strawberries - 250g - $3.79 (This is about $1.79 too much as strawberries can be bought for about $2 per container at many places.)
Avocado - $2.49 (This is about $2.31 too expensive as I’ve seen avocados for 18¢ a piece elsewhere.)
Rice Snaps - 275g - $2.49
Organic Milk - 2L - $6.49
Raspberries - 125g - $4.99
Blueberries - 125g - $2.49
Free Range Eggs - 1 dozen, size 7 - $6.99
Pineapple - $3.49
Lisa’s Original Hummus - 200g - $2.99
Green & Blacks 70% Cocoa Bar - 90g - $3.49
